Outbursts into the charts

So that was the release week then… I hope everyone managed to locate a copy of Outbursts. The album has been released to good reviews (quite a lot of 4-stars in there). Proving there’s still a market for real music out there, Outbursts has entered the UK charts at no. 64.

This week the tour kicks off! If you have photos and videos, you can either upload them in The Ether’s Air or on TB.com, whatever you like :) . I’m also interested in reviews and things like that to put up in the shared stories section of the site. So feel free to send stuff in!

iTunes chart + compilation video

The new Turin Brakes album Outbursts has entered the iTunes chart already at number 36. That is obviously a good thing. So get it. And leave a review, the guys want you to.

Meanwhile, the boys have added a video compilation of doing promo appearances for the best of last September.

The Covers EP is done

When the tour kicks off, you’ll be able to buy the debut release from Turin Brakes on label. Yes, they have a own label, apparently. It’s called ‘The complete ATOMIC’. The Record Company that is. Because the covers ep that is the debut release on this label is called (breathe in):

Everybody Knows Every Day’s A Wicked Game

It features songs by Pearl Jam, Buddy Holly, Neil Young and Chris Isaak.

The release will be available on tour only. So get your copy at the merch stand when you can!

It’s Gale’s party!

Gale joins Liz Kershaw on BBC 6Music to present his favourite party records. It starts after 1 hours and 30 minutes (and a bit more) and features – besides the party music – some banter from Gale and Liz.

Outbursts: exclusive iTunes bonus track

After last week’s exclusive b-side for Sea Change, it hardly comes as a surprise that the iTunes version of Outbursts comes with an exclusive bonus track as well, this one is called Endless Freeze Frame and can be purchased separately (if you have already ordered the album in a different way), you can also listen to a short preview.

The album is available in stores tomorrow.

Third ‘Sea Change’ video online

There was a prophecy that said: “The sea will change 3 times.” And thus, now there’s a third video for Sea Change, once again an animated event (like the first one). This time we get educated: from the origins of mankind up to the point where we involved into Clay Olly and Clay Gale.

If this video teaches us anything, it is that we should have paid attention in class instead of throwing clay at eachother. Oh, if only we had known!

‘Sea Change’: The Turin Brakes Highlands Tour version

After Harry Dwyers’ stop motion video, we can now watch the second of three videos for the first single of Outbursts. This one was filmed by Olly’s wife, Rachel, and edited together by Olly. It’s 4 minute account of the impromptu Highlands tour last Autumn. It’s on Vimeo.

Now that’s what I call previews!

“Yea, that new site is nice, but there’s no new album material to be found.”

You were thinking that too, weren’t you? Well your prayers / thoughts / whispers / annoying emails / shouts / cries have been heard! The official Myspace profile has undergone a revamp just in time for the album launch. Besides a new banner, album purchase links and a vague new background, the profile features new tracks on the player, which feature 2 minutes of each of the first six songs from of Outbursts, apart from The Invitation (sorry, you’re gonna have to wait to hear that one on the record, I suppose). Then again, Will Power preview lasts almost 2 minutes and 20 seconds, so I guess that makes up for something…

In more disappointing news: the Absolute Radio session has been moved to 3 March… Grmbl… Annoying… Don’t want to wait that long? Just so you know that’s actually next Wednesday. Well not next Wednesday but the one after that. Unless you’re reading this on Wednesday. In which case it’s just next Wednesday. Or today. Or last Wednesday. Or… Never mind.

What do you think of the previews? Are you liking what you hear so far? Leave a comment!
