BREAKING: Turin Brakes play Cardiff, Wales

Turin Brakes are playing a one-off show in the Buffalo Bar in Cardiff, Wales. Pete Lawrie writes on his Myspace that he will be supporting the band. Olly and Gale have worked with Pete Lawrie on his upcoming album (to be released when it is released). Pete is gathering momentum, his recent remix with Mercury Prize winner Speech Debelle is available on almost for free on many websites. I’ve been listening to his Myspace songs a lot. His music is a soulful combination of lovely production and his raw, but beautiful voice.

So in the first of what is to become many “Session Sundays”, here’s the first of many Bottled At Source promoting radio sessions. The interviews will be quite similar (lots of talking about their childhood and past), spiced with hints of the future. The songs are quite similar as well, there’s quite a lot of Painkiller and Underdog in all the sessions I will post. You will also find several versions of Never Stops appearing online over the coming weeks. However, this first one is also one of the better ones in my opinion: the interview is laidback and relaxed and the songs are well performed. You can choose to download the whole thing (11 MP3 files with interview and acoustic songs) or just the music. Make your pick and enjoy.

Kate Walsh joins BBC Wales, Turin Brakes next Wednesday

Last night, Kate Walsh joined BBC Wales to play her single June Last Year and title track from her new album Light & Dark. She also talks about working with Olly and Gale on her new album (which is out on Monday). Stuart Cable (yes, THE Stuart Cable) mentions they will be on the show next Wednesday. The Turin Brakes bit starts around one hour and twenty minutes. The whole Kate Walsh thing (worth a listen) starts before that, around one hour and eight minutes.

Turin Brakes join the BBC Radio Wales Evening Show

Former Stereophonics drummer Stuart Cable will be hosting the BBC Radio Wales Evening Show for two weeks starting this Monday. Turin Brakes will appear on the show as guests. There’ll also be a live session by Kate Walsh:

Guests lined up for his stint on the show include Joe Brown and Turin Brakes, with sessions by Kate Walsh and Sharon Corr.

It has yet to be announced when the band will be appearing on the show, but it looks like it’s “just” going to be an interview, not an actual session. But it should be good, right? You can listen via internet or via your good old-fashioned radio (if you are in Wales, that is). The shows will be available on the BBC iPlayer afterwards. More info here when it’s available.
