Musicians are staging a campaign to save a recording studio in the heart of Edinburgh’s waterfront regeneration area from being closed down. Hundreds of bands are being urged to bombard the city council with protests against the move to evict the Lighthouse Studios from its Granton base. The studio is having its lease terminated by developer Waterfront Edinburgh, a joint venture firm set up by the local authority and Scottish Enterprise. Pop stars The Proclaimers, Aberfeldy, Turin Brakes, Idlewild, Sandi Thom and Niki King are among more than 600 acts who have used the studios and are now being asked to back the fight.
