We’ve always had the belief that there’s something special about self-production, at least for us as a band. Over the years, record labels haven’t necessarily shared the same view and they probably don’t understand why it would be so precious, and have usually encouraged us to work with other producers, which for the most part has been a positive experience. But I think we’ve always felt that if we can produce ourselves, then somehow some kind of truth would shine through in a really clean way. I think with this album, as you’re saying, we’ve managed to put all that faith and all the lessons we’ve learned and distilled into something very solid.
