The Optimist Gallery: Today is the day

While indeed we look back on The Optimist LP during March, today IS the day. Today, 10 years ago, The Optimist Lp was released. So today no stories or videos or contributions… Today I urge you all to get out The Optimist Lp and honour it with a special anniversary playback.

When you’ve done that, head over to www.turinbrakes.com: on the player there are 12 demo versions of songs from The Optimist Lp for you to enjoy. All songs – apart from State of Things are featured (instead, there’s a demo of the hidden track to complete the 12 tracks – Olly said on Twitter the demo of State of Things is lost). These demos are fascinating works in progress.

I hope you enjoy the music today. Tomorrow there’s another story for you to read.

  2. Awesome work on this Stefan. Sadly, I didn’t contribute to the gallery as my memory seldom allows for me to give an account of anything unless it took place in the last few years, much less 10 years ago, when I made that all important purchase of The Optimist LP.

I will say that this album means so very much. I could not live without music let alone without the sweet sounds of Turin Brakes. Whilst I can’t recall how I felt the first time I heard The Optimist LP, I can tell you how it makes me squeal and smile with sheer and utter captivating delight when I hear that first piano note of Feeling Oblivion or the acoustic guitar of State Of Things or the spine tingling intro of Mind Over Money…

I dread to think what life would be like if I hadn’t discovered the world of TB all those years ago. Here’s to another 10 years! Congratulations boys! xxx
