[Olly Answers] #2: Favourite songs on We Were Here

Counting down to the release of ‘We Were Here’, the 6th Turin Brakes studio album, we’re posting exclusive quotes from our interview with Olly – almost – every day up to 30 September 2013. If you like what you read, please share it with a friend or pre-order ‘We Were Here’. Check out the other [Olly Answers] here.
What song(s) are you most proud of on this new record?
Sounds lame but all of them, the whole project has been about digging deep, we wanted to make something that would stand up to our early albums, but without that kind of budget or support it was going to be hard, we wanted something that had a true vision and flow and sounded like a 70’s tinged epic, with the sound of real live performance at it’s core, not overly processed but not lo-fi either, to our amazement we pretty much got there! With lots of help from Ali Staton and a good new crop of songs. For me the slower more melancholic songs get right back to that same place that tracks like Rain City or even Jet Trail got to, something you can get totally lost in and drift slowly away with, they are sad but they are full of life.

I guess this is evident in the already posted No Mercy song… Check back tomorrow when Olly answers a question about working on Turin Brakes again after his solo project. In the meantime, check out the Album Sampler on Spotify and order  We Were HereCD | LP | iTunes.
