The Year 2008

The year 2008 was relatively quiet when you look at releases. The year started off with the release of the digital single Something In My Eye, but that was about it. It featured a nice b-side cover of Cat Stevens’ Here Comes My Baby. The digital-only release received little promotion (except for a few radio appearances) and therefore didn’t really impact the charts. Fans, however, were able to look forward to a proper UK tour in February.

Touring Spring
The tour started in Scotland 11 February and finished two weeks later (25th) in Leicester. The tour included several sold-out performances, including two gigs in Cadogan Hall in London. The band played a set of songs from Dark On Fire as well as previous albums, cooking up a crowd-pleasing mix of hits and classics. Later that Spring, in April, the band joined Tom McRae’s Hotel Café Tour in King’s College in London, for a surprise special guest appearance.

In May, Olly, Gale and Eddie went to Germany for a 5-date German tour as an acoustic three-piece. The shows were highly succesful and the format seemed especially suitable for Eddie’s festival Songs from the Canyon in Brighton, however, the band performed as an acoustic 5-piece there: so full band, but acoustic.

Also in 2008:
– Special K Commercial
– Signing to publishing company Reverb XL.
– Festival appearances
– Ending of EMI record deal.
