This song was used in The OC, just like Self Help and is officially the final song on Ether Song! (but we all know better ;)) Olly: We took it from a home recording and its the last track on the album, and it comes after ‘Little Brother’. Which is good because it restores peace and serenity after the aggression. Its philosophy, light, and hope coming back into things but with a definite tinge of melancholy. Its the lullaby at the end of the album. its a very calming peaceful moment and it comes just at the right moment.
Opened my eyes, had a dream last night
That both my arms were broken,
Evening time.
Help me now or hold me down,
I feel the world is tumbling,
Spiralling down.
Oh my love I can’t let go,
Something’s wrong I can’t let go,
Nature’s cruel she laughs at me.
As I make my way through the century,
As I slowly turn to house dust,
Tumbling down.
The rain comes down like a victory,
In sheets of shining memory,
Over and over circling around.
Oh my love I can’t let go,
Something’s wrong I can’t let go,
Nature’s cruel she laughs at me.
Almost too much for my heart,
When it rains,
Oh tears my soul apart,
When it rains,
It rains so slowly
In the city where I’m from.
