Long before the Folk genre underwent its renaissance, long time friends Olly Knights and Gale Paridjanian combined Brit-Pop with Folk elements. Their debut album, which was released in 2001, received rave reviews and was nominated for the acclaimed Mercury Prize. Since then Turin Brakes have sold over one million records worldwide. End of September their sixth album “We Were Here” will see the light of day and before the band will go on tour with it, we managed to book them for the Reeperbahn Festival. To make sure that their songs sound as lush and beautiful as they do on record, Knights and Paridjanian will be accompanied by drummer Rob Allum and bass player Eddie Myer.” More info

Time: 7:00pm. Admission: 18 GBP. Turin Brakes perform their classic album The Optimist LP for its 10th Anniversary @ The Leadmill Sheffield on Thursday 24th November 2011. Mercury Music Prize nominated in 2001 (beaten by PJ Harvey) and critically acclaimed by the music press, this classic album gave us some brilliant singles such as Underdog (Save Me) and Mind Over Money. According to NME at the time “Here’s music for the twilight hours – feverish, contemplative, nostalgic. It resonates with the force of a thousand passionate post-club conversations in darkened, smoke-filled rooms, of intense, doomed liaisons, of youthful arrogance undercut by fear and failure”
